Museums and Interpretive Centers
Before hydroelectricity and the discovery of iron ore in its northern reaches, the Duplessis region already boasted a long history. Beginning with the Innu thousands of years ago, it continues through the big European whaling and cod fishing expeditions and the development of the fishing and forestry industries, which brought the first settlers in 19th century.
You can explore these stories in detail at museums and interpretive centers throughout the region. Here too are works by local artists, hard at work shaping the history of tomorrow!
